Top 5 Songs of March

I’m 23 next week mofos! WOO!! And in all honesty, I feel better than ever. 23 is MY age man, I can feel it, I’m gonna make it the best year of my life so far. Here are some tunes to go along with that sentiment 😉 Click here for last months top 5.

Remember there is a YouTube playlist which includes all these wonderful songs from each month, and also a Spotify playlist which you can find via searching for ‘jodieharris15‘.

Crash Diet

GENERATION WILD – CRASHDIET
“Riot in the streets, fighting and debris…”

Aahh… the lead singer is absolutely stunning! ❤
I messaged my pal Jayke about this tune actually, reminded me of a song his band had written but neither of us could figure out which one!! Something also tells me that I’m seeing Crashdiet this year at a HRH?
This song is perfect with a collection of cocktails, epic Jeffree Star make-up and backcombed hair.

COULD HAVE BEEN ME – THE STRUTS
“I wanna taste love and pain, I wanna feel pride and shame…”

This is totally my theme tune at the moment. The opening lyrics to this tune sum up exactly how I feel about my career and my JodieBowie/NozFest projects – I want to give everything my absolute all, I am not one to give up on anything at all; I may feel like that every now and again, but everything I truly care about and love keeps the undying fire within me to keep on burning and makes me go out there and achieve my dreams ❤
I’d absolutely love to be a multi-millionaire with my own Download kind of festival, with a proper posh house somewhere by the coast; however, I want to work my backside off just trying to get to that point… and if I don’t reach that ultimate goal I don’t care because I’m having way too much fun along the way that any achievement is 100% worth it! My entire life I’ve put musicians first, and it’s finally paying off – I feel happy with who I am and what I’m accomplishing, I love my new evolving style and my new found love of different music genres – man.. it’s like living in a bubble of bliss just as I am now.

buckchderry.jpg

CRAZY BITCH – BUCKCHERRY
“Take it off, the paper is your game, you jump in bed with fame…”

100% blaming Jordan for this one! He recommended it back to me in July, but I was like “nah man, I like Mason Hill.. me don’t need no new music..” – then I heard 27 Days perform it live, and I was like “oh okay, I’m listening” and its been stuck in my head ever since.
Total bad ass tune! I play it when doing my make-up, and my make-up actually turns out exactly how I want it to look if I was a front-woman for a metal band. This song paired with stilettos, a leopard print jacket, my current figure AND Jeffree Star’s Blood Sugar Palette…. aaaaahhhhh…… *faints*….. get me a MASSIVE glass of white wine please – 12.5% 😉 Stick me in one of those cages in Sound Circus and I’ll show you what it’s really all about!

YOU CAN’T KILL MY ROCK ‘N’ ROLL – HARDCORE SUPERSTAR
“The sound will make me strong, won’t judge me if I’m wrong…”

Stumbled across this my accident and I’m so happy that I did! Totally fits in with exactly how I am feeling right now. Always great when a random tune sums up everything you’ve ever wanted to scream from the top of your lungs!

BITCH CAME BACK – THEORY OF A DEADMAN
“That all my friends are laughing thinking that we be wrong, well she’s so fucking stupid that she’s singing along…”

I have a very specific person in my mind for this song and it’s so damn satisfying ❤
I love Theory of a Deadman, they are a fantastic band and were totally MY THING when I was 13 😉 I’ve recently just got back into singing their songs again and I’m absolutely loving it. This tune is such an Avril Lavigne/…. type song; just can’t help singing along and loving life ❤
This song pretty much sums up exactly why I am so fed up at the moment and just want to be left alone for a while.

I feel like this months song choices have been very glam and 80’s-esque for some reason! To be fair I have been wearing a lot more leopard print, rings and things with spikes on lately so that would probably explain the vibe I am kind of going for 😉 I hope you guys have enjoyed this months Top 5, feel free to send me recommendations – I’m currently desperate for some new music to enter my life and ears.

Top 5 Songs – March 2018

My music taste is so diverse and changes so regularly, that I thought it would be sort of interesting to start a blog series where I talk about particular songs I love each month. My tastes in bands rarely change, I will listen to the same 3 or 4 every month etc… but songs…. that changes A LOT! So, here’s a little blog of songs I have on loop at the moment ❤

BACKFIRE – TYLER BRYANT & THE SHAKEDOWN
“What goes around comes around like a boomerang…”

Well well well…. this song is just so friggin’ SEXY! It is so BAD ASS! The way the bass, guitar & drums work together on this track is just to the point and hard hitting. This tune, is my “get me more confident” tune. I put on my best clothes, do my makeup and I feel like a Queen. Music should make you feel something. This song definitely makes me feel something.

SWEETEST EMOTIONS – MARCO MENDOZA
“There’s nothing else I could do, to keep my eyes set on you…”

I’m choosing this one over ‘Viva La Rock’ just because I personally feel that there is a little more too it. Viva La Rock was a little too basic in my opinion; however this track is so happy and warm… like, I can imagine blasting this with the roof down whilst driving along the beach. Marco has nailed this song lyrically – I’m not overly sure on the brass section in the chorus… but it does add another dimension. He’s really upped his game with this, if you’ve not ever listened to any of Mendoza’s solo stuff, this is a pretty decent place to start.

mainBRETT1

KILLING OF A FLASHBOY – SUEDE
“And that shitter with the pout won’t be putting it about no more…”

This is just top class Suede. Again, this is a track that makes me feel something! I feel sexy, and ambitious, my bad ass side really does unleash to this tune. Suede are a bit of an acquired taste I think, a bit like Marmite. I wouldn’t recommend them if you’re a bit of a new muso and like to play it safe – however, if you want something different, and can appreciate the musicianship and the lyrical genius, go ahead! Brett utterly nails the vocals on this, no one else can sing this for sure. There’s not much I can really add apart from it’s just an absolute classic.

metallicaheavymontreal2017

ENTER SANDMAN – METALLICA
“Sleep with one eye open, gripping your pillow tight…”

Metallica isn’t a band I often float towards – however, I’ve recently just felt in the mood for something heavier than my usual. Gets the blood pumping and the anger out you know. That riff though, corr, and the bass line… agh! YAAASSS! I reckon, even if you’re not into heavy stuff, you can still appreciate this belter – it’s got a catchy enough chorus that you’ll just eventually sing along, and by the end you’ll be headbanging. If you’re reading this, because you want something new to listen to and want to broaden your horizons… pick this one! Go rock to it right now. Unleash your inner bad ass.

greatwhite2012

ROLLIN’ STONED – GREAT WHITE
“It’s a wonder I’m still alive, can’t believe I ever made it through that ride…”

This is my bloody theme tune I swear!! This tune is so god damn bad ass… it’s just ME all over! I’ve had this on loop for far too long, and is my ultimate distraction… but like I said… this is MY song. Lyrically, musically it is everything I am about.
It kicks off with drum and bass, reeling you in… then that riff just captures you… it’s just rock at it’s greatest isn’t it. So Hollywood!

I have also made a playlist on Spotify called “TOP 5 : JODIE BOWIE” which I’ll be adding my Top 5 songs of the month to each month. So make sure you go and give it a follow etc so you can listen as well. Search for “jodieharris15“.
Also made a playlist on YouTube.

I hope you enjoyed this tasty blog and hope it inspires you to check out some different bands.

Info on my 21st Birthday!

If you are attending my 21st Birthday on the 24th March 2017 – you NEED to read this.

First of all, I am making a very BIG deal out of this, I’ve been dreaming of a ‘princess day’ since I was a little girl – then as I grew up, I always knew I wanted my very own rock concert for a birthday…………….. here it is!

This was a first draft. Don't worry the date still is FRIDAY 24TH MARCH 2017

This was a first draft. Don’t worry the date still is FRIDAY 24TH MARCH 2017

THE BANDS:
The two bands who are playing were chosen for specific reasons & believe me, the whole night just wouldn’t be right without either. So I’m sorry if your band isn’t in the lineup, but I asked both bands back in May and they said yes straight away.
Saints of Sin – The support band. I asked the Sinners because they were a band that played my very first Rock Night that I put on & they have helped me out so much with my events, even ones they haven’t been involved in. They’ve been out flyering round towns with me, and when things have looked really bad such as having no sound, they’ve pulled out all the stops to make sure Rock Nights can still go ahead. I’ve helped them out by featuring in some of their videos, and they’ve helped me with promotion. Not a lot of other bands have really helped quite as much as them. It’s not favoritism and I know some bands are instantly going to hate on me and purposely not come to my bday cos the Sinners are playing BUT… I wouldn’t have achieved as much as I have without them so……………. 😛
Stop, Stop – The headline band. Oh well, what can I say? They’re tattooed on my body! They are my favourite band next to the Stones. Not after… but side by side. They are equal to The Rolling Stones in my book. Mr.Jacob is a great friend of mine, I adore him to bits… he’s become a bit of a hero/idol of mine as well as a friend I can actually talk to… about… anything really. They are very different to my usual genre of music, and you may find them a little over-powering or odd when you first see them… but their show is fantastic and you will mostly end up hooked like I was. They are absolutely lovely guys, and they are just a trio of Spanish dudes rocking out in a magnificent way. I support them whole heartedly, and I feel so lucky to have them play my 21st.
YES, this band very much was favoritism 😉

DRESS CODE:
The Theme of the evening is Hollywood – Rock of Ages. DUH with Saints of Sin playing, it would be odd not to have that theme run through-out.
I will be dressed up like a bloody princess I wont lie.
Ladies… please don’t turn up in a red dress please. The colour is reserved for me. Co-operation is much appreciated 😉
You can either dress up suited & booted, i.e shirts, ties and jackets.. OR you can get your best Steel Panther look on and dress as 80’s AOR as you want. The option is yours.

The unfinished dress I will be wearing.

The unfinished dress I will be wearing.

FOOD & DRINK:
There will be a fully stocked bar! Soft and alcoholic, bottled, canned and on tap.
However, you will have to pay for your own drinks. As I am getting to use the facilities for free, as a gift from the management committee for all my hard work – it only seems far they make some sort of profit from my birthday, and that is by having the bar open… we can’t afford to make it an open bar due to band costs. BUT our bar prices is the lowest in the area.
As for food, we are supply a table with snacks and of course the Birthday cake! I’m putting out picky things really, cos of alcohol and live music it just makes sense to have like crisps, sausage rolls, cookies, etc etc. However, if you are unbearably hungry, there is a 2 min walk to a kebab shop, or a 5min walk to a fish and chippy, pizza place and a Chinese. So… after the party feel free to explore or get proper food during the show.

TRAVELLING:
I know some people are travelling from the likes of Birmingham and London, which is a considerably long journey SO, I have advised people who wish to book into a hotel, that they opt for The Premier Inn in Highcliffe. Highcliffe is a lot closer to New Milton than anywhere else and it has a train station (Hinton Admiral). If you book this early in advance you will of course get cheaper deals. I have looked into B&B’s in New Milton, but they all seem to be fully booked on that date so………
If you kind of know someone going, make contact with them, they might be able to help out.
I know some people may be even sleeping in their cars… that’s people locally AND those travelling. I will have contact numbers for taxi’s back to and from hotels also. I think our trains stop running at Midnight and they become hourly after 9pm.
The Premier Inn in Highcliffe is a good shout though as I may be able to sort out lifts as I have friends who’ll be driving through that way anyway. Up to you, but it really is for you guys to try and arrange, I can only advise.

SET UP & CLEAN UP:
For this I would really appreciate some volunteers.
For the set up, don’t worry I can do that on my own & with the help of the bands.
The clean up, I will need say about 4 or 5 volunteers who don’t mind just clearing up rubbish, helping to collect glasses, maybe help out with some washing up and taking down the decorations. The more of us there is, the less time it will take. So anyone willing to stay a little longer and help out would be much appreciated…let me know who you are!

RSVP:
It’s important you do tell me you are coming as I think the venue is arranging Security. I’m not entirely sure as yet, but I’m not keen on the idea of random drunks coming in, and I have told the bands it is invitation only with some minor exceptions. So if you’re not on my RSVP list, you might not even get in. Also, for obvious reasons such as planning, space organisation and catering… it’s just nice/polite to know numbers before the actual night.

TIMINGS:
I am yet to finalise timings as I want the bands there at specific times etc – sound check and me being selfish for a few hours 😉
BUT all I know for the moment is you should aim to arrive for 7pm as the first band will be on at 8:30pm. So you eager beavers… 7PM!!!

SOCIALISING:
Please don’t be offended BUT if I don’t talk to you much, it probably is because I am very busy having a birthday. Please please please don’t follow me around like a puppy dog, try to keep and eye on me, or stop me being inappropriate. DO however socialise with each other! There are some very awesome people coming ; I promise I haven’t invited any weirdo’s 😉

I think that is all really. If you want to ask anymore questions please go ahead!!!
Would just like to say a massive thank you to the people who have already RSVP’d and have told me how excited they are, and that they are already planning their own outfits etc – it means so much to me to hear people get excited for my birthday.
Thank you so much to STOP STOP and Saints of Sin for agreeing to be a part of my special day – big hugs to you all!!!
This is a really special day for me, and I am making a big deal out of it, because all of my life I have believed I am unloved and unwanted, and my last two big birthdays 16th and 18th I didn’t do anything for… I’ve been waiting for my 21st and I am so glad I did because I have met so many new amazing people and friends who do love and want me around and I know exactly what it is I actually want to do for my birthday now. I’ve always dreamt of a big 21st – a day for me ❤

On a last note, to anyone who is considering not coming because they don’t like the genre of music the bands play – please don’t refer to me as a friend of yours. The evening is not at all about the bands, and they know that, it is about me… so you should come because you are my friend and want to spend my special day with me … and end up having a bloody good night anyway cos the bands are awesome!! ❤ ❤

Much love ❤
