JodieBowie : A Lot Of ALBUM REVIEWS! New Music You Need To Check Out

This is long over due I am sure! But so much exciting new music has been brought to my attention recently, as well as being brought out into the world... the music industry is currently thriving that is for sure! Gigs are soon to make a come back to! I hope you are still planning on supporting live music! 😉

Sorry for the massive delay! Life has been a little bit of a whirlwind lately – but I hope this blog has come at a good time to delve into the world of some new awesome music ❤

This post is mostly focused on albums, as a lot have been released this year so far! But there are a few singles that are pretty epic too.

Any bands looking for reviews in the future, please do feel free to drop me a message or send me an email on nozfest@yahoo.com 🙂

Baleful Creed – Latest Album “The Lowdown”
What a cracking awesome album! Definitely one heck of a debut. I’m already looking forward to whatever else they have up their sleeves to release. If you like your hard hitting riffy steady rock ‘n’ roll, then this is the band for you. The perfect accompaniment to a nice cold beverage… preferably in a live music venue. This band sure knows how to nail a riff, that is for sure! You can’t but bang your head and tap your feet to this band. I am loving the track ‘Confused‘, it almost has a bluesy feel to it. I am thoroughly impressed with every track, and I’m really looking forward to being able to catch these guys live hopefully in the future, I’m going to make a point of checking out more of their stuff.

The Struts ft Paris Jackson – Low Key In Love
This is such a gorgeous song, obviously I was going to have good things to say about the track as it is by The Struts, however Paris Jackson… what a talent! Clearly takes after her Dad. I can see this becoming my summer song very quickly, I am already obsessed! So obsessed I actually bought a Luke Spiller pink suit to match. Of course this is very much a pop song, a lot more poppy that most of The Struts previous tunes… but it is so beautiful, catchy and fulfilling you are probably going to low key fall in love with this song ❤

The Treatment – Latest Album “Waiting For Good Luck”
The guys really stepped up their game with this album. This is rock ‘n’ roll in its purest form, and I believe this is The Treatment at their finest. This album is an absolute banger from start to finish, the classic riffs, the strong powerful vocals alongside catchy lyrics, it is everything the band has ever brought to the table, expect everything sounds so much BIGGER and I’m living for it! My personal favourite track has to be “Barman” because I’m a sucker for a good old blues tune! That’s one thing I love about this band, the fact they can totally own balls out rock ‘n’ roll but also nail a good ‘ole blues tune too. That riff on “Lightning in a Bottle” though… corr! This album is going to leave you singing along for days! I cannot wait to have them headline Nozfest!

Mason Hill – Debut Album “Against The Wall”
This was well and truly worth the wait. This album still blows my mind every single time I listen to it. There is no other word to use except for INCREDIBLE! I’m sure this album is going to bring in a lot of new fans for the band, it’s perfectly executed in my opinion. I am really loving how the songs blend in with each other, that is a really smooth touch. You can just feel how much passion, time and effort the guys have put into this record. My personal favourite has to be “Broken Son“, this song always makes me stop what ever I am doing just to fully enjoy it’s awesomeness! I get so easily distracted by this band. Go check it out for yourselves! You WON’T be disappointed, I promise.

Chez Kane – Debut Album “Chez Kane”
I for one am so pleased and proud that Chez Kane has a solo album out, and of course it is such an 80’s power ballad throw back!
First things first, Chez is an incredible vocalist and it really is an absolute treat to hear her belt out some proper 80’s rock ‘n’ roll in a full album, so you can fully appreciate her talent. My favourite track is “Get It On” because it is such a banger and in some way or another I feel like I resonate with it. This album would sound amazing driving down the sunset strip in a convertible, no matter the era. I know for sure Chez is going to have picked up quite a following with this adventure and I’m really looking forward to seeing where this takes her. Fingers crossed for some lives shows soon!!!

Stop Stop – Latest Album “Low Cost Life”
Damn this is a bloody good album; they’ve really gone up a notch with this and I swear I’m not being biased. A New StOp, sToP! Album – Oh yes PLEASE!! Straight off the bat, I’m just going to say my favourite track from the album is “Banana“… go listen and you’ll see what I mean. I like how there are some new sounds to Stop, Stop in this album, for example “Turned My Life Around” and “Let Me Fill Your Void“, I’ve never heard the band go down that route before but by god does it suit the – in fact if you’re on Spotify, check those songs out first! They are going to convert a lot of fans with this album for sure.
I cannot wait to re-open my favourite venue with my favourite band ❤

Skinny Knowledge – Debut Album “Don’t Turn Out The Lights”
Of course this album was going to be awesome, it is the brain child and musicianship of local legend Andy Smooth. I’ve left a link to their latest music video “Sayonara” which you should totally check out! This band in my opinion are a total 90’s throw back, which isn’t a bad thing at all. It’s super cool to actually see Andy branch out and do his own thing with his own band, I can see these guys going far and gaining a good following across the UK. If you’re into your Green Day, Foo Fighters, All Time Low etc then this band is going to rock your world and take you right back to your youth.
Album Launch Show : Skinny Knowledge Album Launch Tickets, Fri 9 Jul 2021 at 19:00 | Eventbrite

The Fallen State – River
Another awesome new single from The Fallen State. I’ve recently got into this band, and I wish I checked them out sooner. If you haven’t heard their stuff yet, now is the time!
This band are definitely on the heavier rock side of NWOCR, but they are absolutely brilliant and knocked it out the park again with this track. A bit different from their other recent song “Knives”, but this is something that can definitely get stuck on the mind. The music video for this is professionally executed which just adds to the epicness of this track.

David Ryder Prangley – Hello
This was a surprise! David Ryder Prangley of Rachel Stamp is set to release an album titled “Vampire Deluxe” and this is the first single from the album.
This is something quite different! Almost symphonic operatic in the style and performance… in other words, it is very David Ryder Prangley. Definitely some David Bowie influences seeping through there. If you enjoyed Rachel Stamp back in the day, you are may gravitate towards this new style. I do however think this wont be everyone’s cup of tea, it is very unique.

Buckcherry – So Hott
This single comes from Buckcherry’s latest album “Hell Bound” which is set to be released on the 25th June.
This is classic Buckcherry and I’m totally living for it! This band helped me get out of a massive mental health rut last summer, and I’m buzzing for some new music from this band – I can already tell this album is not going to disappoint. This track is giving my very 2010/2015 Buckcherry, but they had some of the best rock ‘n’ roll tunes then so I can only imagine what is coming with this album. I feel it is definitely a bit more upbeat compared to their last album “Warpaint” – this is probably going to inject some FUN into our summer… which I think we are all craving right now. I can foresee a summer rock ‘n’ roll party album in the making here 😉

I hope these reviews have some what inspired you to check out some new music. Honestly, please do keep your ears to the ground, because this year is a big year for new music – it really is making waves in the charts.
I’m so proud I get to check out all this awesome new music first hand – I’m so lucky!

NEW MUSIC from Chez Kane, The Treatment, Inglorious & Many More (Reviews)

So much new music is coming out in 2021 and it’s only February!! Here are my thoughts on some of the hottest new tracks! I cannot believe how much fantastic new music is about to be unleashed this year… guys… we’re honestly not ready for the talent that’s about to hit us in the face!

❤ The passion these musicians have is absolutely beautiful ❤

The Treatment – RAT RACE
As soon as I put this new track on, the only thing I had to say through the entire music video was “wow!”. WOAH! These boys have absolutely smashed it!
I feel this is very different from what we’ve previously heard from The Treatment. I’m getting some Steel Panther vibes on the harmonies, a bit of Airbourne on the punchy riffs and I’m absolutely loving the image of the band – pure badass rock ‘n’ roll. I cannot wait for the album to come out, luckily it’ll be out on 9th April 2021 and is titled “Waiting For Good Luck“. Absolutely fantastic way to debut new bassist Andy Milburn too… what an excellent edition to an already epic band!
You can tell the band is The Treatment but there’s an ever-so slight change in sound that has just taken them to a whole new level – it’s almost kind of ‘smoother’ but it absolutely works in their favour… this band is going to be one to watch this year (as if they wasn’t one already).
P.S If all goes to plan this year The Treatment are Headliners for Nozfest 2021!

Chez Kane – TOO LATE FOR LOVE
Hello Miss. Benatar! This song is the definition of the 80’s. Chez Kane’s self-titled debut album will be coming out 12th March 2021, so we haven’t got long to wait to hear the full awesomeness. I know she has worked her socks off for this, and I am positive this is going to be one hell of an album. Chez has always had a powerhouse of vocal talent and it is brilliant to fully hear her in her element and belt out her own songs. Something tells me this album is going to have a lot of Rock of Age vibes and that is massively exciting! We all need some 80’s rock in our lives, admit it… it’s always a pleasure. It’s great to see a female vocalist bringing those vibes to the forefront as well; this will be such a crowd pleaser live! Very proud of you Chez; you rock!

Inglorious – MEDUSA
This new single took me a little while to get into, it’s a little different from previous Inglorious releases but there is something that keeps drawing me in to this tune and it ends up on repeat very easily! As if there isn’t anything that Nathan James can’t sing!
The bands fourth studio album “We Will Ride” will be out 12th February 2021… not long to wait at all. I’m very excited to hear the new album, they’ve dropped little teasers along the way and it’s sounding like an epic powerhouse.
Medusa draws you in with it’s bluesy tones and riff followed by the chorus that is easy to learn off by heart in an instant. I’ve not heard anything bluesy from Inglorious before and to be honest it really does suit their sound, these guys deliver everything from emotional ballads to hard rock.

Primitai – VALLEY OF DARKNESS
There is a lot to this track! Heavy metal meets rock ‘n’ roll? I have to admit this isn’t my go to style, but I stumbled across this video on NWOCR and it intrigued me a lot. If you’re into metal or looking to explore more metal avenues then this is a good place to start as I personally find it very easy listening. Very very catchy chorus, smooth vocals, pounding drums, great harmonies and awesome guitar solos… what more do you need in a 6 minute tune! Their album “Violence Of The Skies” is due out 29th March 2021.

Mason Hill – DNA
I am loving what Mason Hill have done with their sound. Their forthcoming album “Against The Wall” be out 5th March 2021. Every new single they bring out just oozes more talent and show us just what they have been trying to achieve with their sound. Like I said I’m absolutely living for it. I’m itching to get my hands on their album, the release day honestly can’t come round fast enough. Scott’s vocals have taken on a whole new level and you can really see the band pushing themselves to create the best music they can, I’m very proud of these guys. The chanting vocals on this track is so satisfying and utterly badass, accompanied with a classic riff and smooth bass line… this track is incredibly satisfying to the ears and the soul.
P.S Mason Hill are also on the Nozfest 2021 line-up.

Gin Annie – DEVIL IN ME
Another excellent new release from Gin Annie. I’m yet to come across a Gin Annie song that doesn’t tickle my fancy. These guys are such a great band, I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to see them play live. This track demands to be played loud! Very classic rock, it has all the aspects of a perfect rock ‘n’ roll song that keeps your head banging and feet tapping. I’d say this is also the ideal long distance driving tune as well, easy listening, very enjoyable, incredibly catchy, tasty guitar solos, nice driving bass and drums and smooth vocals. I believe this track also got voted second back track of the week in Classic Rock Magazine, and is also no.1 on Amazon’s Hot New Releases. This band is going places!

Skinny Knowledge – KEEP ME OUT OF IT
I’ve reviewed this new single from Skinny Knowledge before, but it’s so good it’s only right to give it a shout out twice. The bands debut album “Don’t Turn Out The Lights” is due for release 5th March 2021. I’m really enjoying seeing Andy Smooth as a frontman, the band really has that 00’s vibe with a touch of Green Day & Foo Fighters, I have a feeling their album is going to go down a treat with many audiences.
Keep Me Out Of It is so addictive to listen to, it’s such a feel good song with some light hearted truthful lyrics behind the catchy riff… I see a very bright and awesome future for Skinny Knowledge.

Those Damn Crows – SICK OF ME
Another band that just keeps getting better and better. These Welsh lads are due to open the mainstage at Download 2021 on the Saturday; make sure you get yourself down the front if all goes to plan of course.
When reading what vocalist Shane had to say about this track, I found it very relatable and it was also comforting to hear someone be open. “’Sick Of Me’ is a duel, a constant battle with the person staring back at you in the mirror and not liking what you see and feel” – what an excellent idea behind a song! Not only can I see this song going down as a classic in a Those Damn Crows crowd, but it has a very relatable message behind it too! It is very brave to admit thoughts and feelings like that, so big up to Shane for doing so in a truly brilliant way. If you love Those Damn Crows, then this song will make no exception… all these bands keep upping their game time and time again and it is truly inspiring to see.

As you can probably tell, all these fantastic musicians have really upped their game and I’m literally bursting with excitement to hear all the new music they are ready to release out in the world!
I’m very proud to be a fan of rock ‘n’ roll right now! All this fantastic new talent is not only refreshing but also incredibly joyous. Who said rock ‘n’ roll is dead?!

JodieBowie : Bands In MY Local Area You SHOULD Check Out (South Coast/Dorset/Hampshire)

Seeing as I am a promoter based in the South Coast of England, I think it is probably about time that I shout about some bands from the South Coast of England!!

I’m being genuine when I say this… I think I live in one of the best areas for live music. We have so many fantastic, vibrant and talented local bands in the Bournemouth/Southampton area, and I am so proud that I get to have these guys right on my very own doorstep! I’m sure we’ll be seeing many of these names on some shows of mine in the near future.

In no particular order and no bias.

South of Salem
South of Salem are a hard rock/metal/horror band from Bournemouth. After 10 years of playing in various other bands under different alias’, this 5 piece have taken the scene by storm.
What don’t I like about this band? Well, I can’t answer that because I love everything about this band! First of all it was an absolute pleasure to have these guys play my first and only gig of 2020, which also happened to be their first ever headline show which subsequently sold out too!
This band honestly has something to offer everyone. They provide the perfect mix of rock and metal accompanied with catchy lyrics that’ll have you singing their songs all day long. Trust me, you’ll have their album “Sinner Takes It All” on repeat without even noticing. I personally can see some influence from Alice Cooper lyrically, if that is something that might tickle your fancy. The stage presence of these guys is beautiful; each member is uniquely individual, combined together makes for something eye-catching and entertaining show. I’m itching to work with these boys again! I highly recommend giving them a listen if you haven’t already – whether you’re into your death metal or prefer your traditional rock ‘n’ roll… they’ll have something for you!

Western Sand
Western Sand are a 4 piece southern inspired hard rock band intending on putting rock ‘n’ roll and the south of England back on the map.
I’ve known these dudes a long time, I’m talking 10 years or more, and the one thing that has never changed is their professionalism and passion for the music they play. Western Sand were one of the first bands I ever booked as a promoter and I’m sure we have many more shows to play together in the future. Now, if you like your Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Stone Cherry, perhaps occasionally a little Nickelback… then these guys are going to be right up your street! These guys are proper balls out rock ‘n’ roll, and don’t claim to be any other way. They are one riffy band and the bass and drums carry each other and complement the mix perfect making this band the ideal band to head bang down the front to. Tyler and Jimmy’s interweaving on guitar just has to be admired! We all know I’m a sucker for hard core riffs and pounding drum & bass, and they make no exception… they are a band I will always catch when I see a live show come up. Grab a beer, get yourself down the front and immerse yourself in some Southern talent.

Skinny Knowledge
Skinny Knowledge were only founded in 2020 and are a raucous 4 piece alternative rock band based in the South of England.
I cannot wait to see these boys play a live show. Again, I’ve known frontman Andy Smooth a little while now and followed his journey through bands such as Colt 45, Walk The Night and Black Water County, and now seeing him front his own band is pretty exciting I must admit. Obviously this band is pretty new on the block, but I don’t think they’ll have a problem fitting in, they are definitely more than capable of standing on their own feet and grabbing a crowds attention (I’d imagine). They really remind of me a 2000’s movie band, which isn’t a bad thing at all, I was growing up in that sort of era as I’m sure the band were also, and it’s actually really refreshing to see some of that make a comeback, compared to the usual favourable 80’s! I’m getting a lot of vibes like All American Rejects, Green Day, All Time Low, Bowling for Soup, Wheatus and of course some Foo Fighters (I know Andy is a big Grohl fan); they are totally going to transport you back to college days. Who didn’t love those bands growing up?! I have a feeling they are going to go down an absolute storm and I cannot wait to snap ’em up for a show myself. Bands like this always help remind me why I do what I do; keep releasing new music guys because we cannot wait to hear what you’ve got to offer!

Voodoo Vegas
Voodoo Vegas are a 5 piece hard rock band from Bournemouth, channelling classic rock sounds and taking that into their own vibe and territory.
I’d say this band definitely also has some Southern Rock vibes thrown into their mix, alongside a little metal but mostly hard rock – in my opinion. It’s hard to describe actually because I can’t name a specific band they sound familiar to, they sort of have their own thing going on and I’m digging it. I guess there is some obvious 70’s and 80’s rock sounds to pick up on if that helps. This band is filled with excellent musicians who can all hold their own and are not shy of expressing their talents!
This is a band with so much to offer, again there is something for everyone in their music and you wont tire of watching these guys perform either. They always know how the get the crowd going and eating out the palm of their hands, they put on a balls against the wall rock show… what more could you ask for when seeing rock ‘n’ roll in the flesh?

Black Water County
Black Water County are a 5 piece band from Bournemouth that came together through their love of playing music live. I suppose you want to know what genre they fall under? Is a country pirate folk rock a genre?
It would be pretty pointless grabbing a pint to watch these guys, because with the amount of jigging about and foot stomping you’re going to be doing, you wont have time to take a sip nor will you be able to keep it in the glass!
They are not your traditional rock band, which is what makes these guys to fresh and exciting! Thank goodness that Bournemouth was their birth place. I don’t think there is a single instrument that these guys can’t play, and you know what… they play them all in all their shows; they flaunt their talents with such excitement and passion that it is super hard not to fall in love with this band at first glance. Want some banjo’s? Fiddle? Flute? Recorder? They’ve got you covered! The perfect addition to any line-up as well. I hope I am lucky enough to work with them again in the future, it was such a pleasure to have them at one of my rock nights.

Black Tree Vultures
Black Tree Vultures are a 4 piece rock/metal band from the South Coast. What was that? Are these guys heavy? Oh yeah! I’ve got you covered with these guys, don’t you worry.
I love working with these chappies, they nail a gig like it’s in their blood or something… although judging by the bands I’ve already covered it would seem like this sort of talent must run in the water or something.
This band is ever-so charismatic, Celyn will have you right up there with him whilst the rest of the band form a driving force that rocks the entire room. Another band that requires you to stop talking and listen, put down that drink and bang your damn head!
If you see the name pop up where you are, go give ’em a listen… you won’t be disappointed that is a promise. They bring the metal, you’ll bring the roll and together you’ll have the best night you could ask for. I’ve seen the guys perform in packed venues, small town pubs and established festivals and they always have the best showmanship up their sleeves, they get better and better every time I see them. I’m sure we’re going to have many shows together over the years, and I am looking forward to seeing them develop even more as a band. Personally, I’m rather picky when it comes to the more metal side of music, however Black Tree Vultures was a band that had me hooked from the off and I’m sure you’ll have a very similar experience.

Metaprism
Metaprism are a duel-fronted modern melodic metal band from Bournemouth. Can you tell we like our metal down in these parts?
This band combines both male and female vocals, mixing ruthless aggression with soaring melodies which enables them to create a unique and dynamic brand of melodic metal. Metaprism are definitely a staple of Bournemouth, I heard of these guys before I even dipped my toe into the pool of promoting… you never know, maybe one day a show will finally be on the cards!
If you’re looking for something a bit harder, but also particularly polished, then this band will be right up your street! It’s pretty badass to see a female delving into world of metal, not that it is unusual, but it is always exciting to see a frontwoman be empowering and own the stage. If you want a taste of what the South Coast has to offer, then get to one of these shows or give ’em a listen… it’s not a bad place to start at all.

Capulus
Capulus are a 4 piece high-octane, high-energy brand of melodic rock band from Bournemouth.
This band are starting to make a name for themselves in the area which is exciting to see; we are yet to cross paths but I am sure it will happen eventually and it’ll be an awesome experience on all behalves. These guys are still very young and fresh, but don’t hold back on the talent front – they know they have something to offer and they’re not scared of sharing that. It’s going to be interesting and exciting watching this band on their journey. If you have a few moments to spare, give them a listen. They are different to anything like my usual, but I can see quite a few people instantly falling in love with this band and I’m quite buzzing to see them grow their fan base.

Solcura
Solcura are a hard hitting 4 piece from Bournemouth, blending alternative groove and noise with a healthy dose of heavy rock and underground atmospherics. These guys are alt rock for the modern age.
Admittedly, it has taken me some time to sit down and check these lads out… why? I have no idea, because I friggin love these guys! They are good man! Wanna get on a line-up? Drop me a line asap. Like I said, there must be something in our water down here that just produces such talent. They are definitely alternative vibes for sure, but it’s refreshing to hear something a little different in this age. I’m sure this band is going to interest a lot of people, so if you haven’t yet come across their music please do give it a whirl, it’ll take you by surprise.

The Smokin’ Prophets
The Smokin’ Prophets are a 4 piece high energy, high octane, punk rock ‘n’ roll band from Southampton. A DIY ethos that brings a raw, pure, untamed rock ‘n’ roll swagger.
These boys were on my first ever line-up I booked as a promoter, and I’ve always been a supporter of theirs. They are my kind vibe!
They have a lot to offer, visually, in their riffs, in their stage performances, in their beating drums and hammering bass lines… you can’t really go wrong with this band. I’m hoping they have some new music coming this way soon, I can see them doing really well if they keep aiming in the right direction. The debut album Deceived Diseased honestly doesn’t have a single track on it worth skipping, all of them are great! I genuinely mean it when I say that this band has a lot to offer. If you like a bit of Sex Pistols and a little New York Dolls, then these are the dudes for you.

The Outlaw Orchestra
The Outlaw Orchestra are a band from the deep South Coast, bred from a love of rock ‘n’ roll, country and irreverence.
You cannot help but love this band! No matter what genre you are usually into, this band is going to grab your attention from the get go.
These guys are a proper country rock band that incorporate some tongue in cheek with catchy riffs and slapping bass lines that are going to go down a treat at any summer bbq party. They’ll have you up line dancing and acting like an proper redneck in no time, that’s for sure. Every show I’ve put on with these guys has gone a treat with the crowd and I’m sure that’ll be no exception in the continued future. Want some happy times, leaving a bar with a smile on your face, spring in your step, some catchy lyrics lingering in your brain….. check out The Outlaw Orchestra!

I am honestly the luckiest girl in the world to be able to work and connect with the bands that I do! How lucky am I to also live in such an area that is filled with such vibrant talent! I don’t need to snap out of anything because I genuinely am living the dream ❤

I hope you have enjoyed this blog, and hopefully you feel like check one or two of these bands out!

New Bands/Artists To Check Out! (Reviews)

I’ve had a lot of bands send me their new material lately, as well as a lot of bands making a debut or releasing something new… so I thought I’d compile everything into one place!! So here is a blog for you, with some awesome new bands to check out 🙂 There should be something in this blog for everyone… ENJOY!!

Skinny Knowledge
Skinny Knowledge is a new blaring 4 piece rock band from Bournemouth formed Andy Smooth – you may know him from Colt 45 and Black Water County. Other members include Benjamin Parker, Fenge Davies and Charlie Kenny.
Their first single “Imagination” definitely grabs your attention and makes you want to hear more from this band. From a personal perspective; this is a very Andy Smooth vibe, as in you can hear the Foo Fighters/Green Day influence seeping through this track. This reminds me very much of a 90’s grunge vibe, this song would fit perfectly into the soundtrack for ’10 Things I Hate About You’. The sound of this band is so refreshing! I’ve heard a lot of bands go either the 80’s glam or metal sound, but these guys have got the 90’s pop-punk sound down to a tea and I’m actually living for it! Can definitely see myself bopping and headbanging to this live. Andy’s vocals are powerful and the guitar has a real raw sound to it – very early Foo Fighters. I definitely recommend checking them out. I think these guys are only going to prove themselves more and more.

Pete Jackson
Mass House Arrest is the latest release from solo artist Pete Jackson. Pete had been working on this song during the lockdown and was a direct emotional response to everything that has been going on during this pandemic. This song has a very electronic and dance genre sound to it, almost has a club music vibe. This is definitely different to anything that has usually been of my taste, but this song has a very catchy rythm accompanied by unique sounds, and a talented vocal. Making this song one that must be played at every live music establishment for sure. I’m sure it’ll appeal to the younger generation of music fans as well as those with a more mature taste.

South of Salem
Previously known as Al B Damned, South of Salem have smashed it on to the scene with their debut album ‘The Sinner Takes It All‘. Every track on this album will rock your socks off, if not I know everyone will be able to relate to at least one of two of the tracks lyrically. My personal favourites include ‘Pretty Little Nightmare‘ and ‘Dead Hearts Don’t Break‘, but in all truthfulness; it is near impossible to pick a favourite! These guys are more on the metal side of rock, but I think they’d appeal to a vast range of people. I cannot wait to see where this takes the band, I’m looking forward to hearing more music and watching them grow an audience. South of Salem released a single titled “Demons Are Forever” on Suicide Prevention Day, which I think is a really nice touch and I’m sure the music video as well as the lyrics is and will help a lot of people who battle their demons – it was definitely an emotional listen for me personally, and I really respect the guys for coming out with a song about something like mental health, which can still be seen as a bit of a taboo to discuss, so big respect to them for bringing it out as a single as well. There is something on this album for everyone.

Mars Addict
The new album from Mars Addict “Lamecoaster” is definitely different from my usual tastes, but I’m really liking it. Very 90’s esque. These guys have a very similar thing going on as Skinny Knowledge, if maybe a little different. If you like your 90’s music you are really going to enjoy this band. The title track Lamecoaster is super catchy – I feel like a Lindsay Lohan character, perhaps Freaky Friday era! All of the songs on this album are very catchy , especially when it comes down to the sing along/harmonising chorus’, and remind me maybe a little of McFly and Busted. “Snowboarding with My Dealer” is definitely a new favourite Christmas tune for sure! I’m definitely going to have to sit down and check these guys out properly and try and see them live. Very happy go-lucky vibe – we like a positive vibe!

Black Tree Vultures
The latest single from Black Tree Vultures is another stunner of a track called ‘The Unforeseen‘. If you like your hard rock and metal sounds then this is a band for you; this band never fails to deliver epic riffs accompanied by hard hitting bass lines and drum beats. I personally feel like Celyn’s vocals have gone up a notch on this track and it’s working! On the first listen, I wasn’t too sure if I liked it compared to their other songs; however, sitting down and listening to this track again, I can hand on my heart say they have pulled off another classic! I love the sound and vibe of this band, these guys work so hard and they have definitely brought out another banging single which I am sure will gain them a lot of new fans.

Gallows Circus
First of all… thank you so much for the t-shirt, album and other little goodies you sent my way, I really appreciate it!
These guys are awesome! Why haven’t I got round to checking them out sooner!! I’d say they are on a similar vain to bands such as Skam and Hollowstar and perhaps a little bit of Kris Barras too, which is a sound I absolutely love. “Hell’s Whiskey” is one heck of a track, I love everything about it; it’s riffy, hard hitting, has the harmonising vocals on the chorus – it’s a song that gets you moving and grooving and would go down a treat with any live audience I am sure. Love me a hard hitting riffy band that owns their music right down to the core and you can feel the passion seep through the vibe – this band has all of that, and I can’t wait to hear more. A great NWOCR band for sure.

Tom Killner
This guy! Oh my gosh! Listening to “Devil Woman” from The Church House Sessions, took my right back to late 60’s early 70’s Rolling Stones – almost Jimi Hendrix feel. Wanna chuck on a pair of flares and walk around in a paisley shirt vibing the night away. Such a cool groove going on musically. I’m a sucker for anything that takes me back to my childhood, and this is it!! I would say he is on the same wave length as Kris Barras, especially with “Don’t Waste My Time”, so if you like anything by Barras then you are going to love Tom Killner. Talent just oozes from this guys guitar playing, and his vocals are very reminiscent of a Hendrix era. – I just can’t get over the vibe! Honestly, it’s like being transported back to 1969 – check him out! You won’t regret it. Bluesy, rock ‘n’ roll right down to the core.

Y!KES
Y!KES are alternative pop/rock band from Birminingham. “Step Away” from their album Millionaire, to me sounds very influenced by artisits such as The Coral, The Cure and Oasis. I’m getting a modern Mod vibe from this band as well, and again it is refreshing to hear something a little different to what is either in the charts or being played by most bands. This song in my opinion is very what I would describe as ‘teeny bop’, as in I could see this being played during a scene in ‘Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging’ or being played by Stiff Dylans – and to be honest, that ain’t a bad thing!! We’re all a sucker for that feel good feeling, and this band has nailed that. I absolutely love their image as well! I can’t wait to hear more from this band, and I am definitely going to be checking out some of their other material.
I believe these guys are playing HARD ROCK HELL XIV 2021, so definitely give them a listen live if you can.

King Kaos
King Kaos or a metal band from Los Angeles. Their latest single ‘Sinister Demise‘ isn’t for the faint hearted. This band would definitely appeal to those who are a lover of all things hard hitting and HEAVY. The gritty screaming vocals are accompanied by a booming match of drum and bass, with a rather epic electric guitar solo thrown into the mix. I feel like this band will appeal to the more niche of metal fans, but I have to admit… Sinister Demise is rather catchy! It got me headbanging that is for sure. I definitely recommend checking this band out if you are looking to discover some new sounds and broaden your taste in the metal music genre.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this blog and have hopefully managed to discover some new music!!
I had A LOT of bands send stuff forward – DO NOT WORRY, I will get round to doing another blog, remind me and I’ll sort something out 🙂 Thank you to everyone who sent stuff my way, it is very much appreciated and it’s been great fun discovering new music.
