Why You SHOULD Check Out ALL The Bands At NOZFEST 2021!

Nozfest 2021!! It’s happening!! And we are so excited to see you all there! It is going to be one full jam packed day of pure rock ‘n’ roll and we CANNOT WAIT!
To celebrate the occasion, I have listed exactly WHY you should check out ALL the bands on this years line-up… and boy, what a line-up it is!
Tickets : www.nozfest.org

P.S THERE ARE NOW JUST 70 TICKETS LEFT FOR THIS SHOW!!

You can find all the information and tickets on our website.
Nozfest is a New Wave of Classic Rock festival that takes place at The 1865 in Southampton on Saturday 14th August. It is an all day festival featuring 10 bands for just Β£22! An absolute bargain of a price, especially with the bill we have for you this year.. corr blimey πŸ˜‰

THE TREATMENT
Headliners
We are so excited to have The Treatment headlining Nozfest this year! What a band! If you are into your classic rock and love all the riffs you can get, then this is the band for you. Personally I find they have some AC/DC vibes going on, and who doesn’t love a bit of DC!
The Treatment have been getting the party on since 2008, so are well established on the rock scene. Their newest album was released on 12th April, and we can safely say that it was epic! This band have a reputation for blowing the roof off whatever venue they are rocking (metaphorically of course!), so brace yourself for when they grace the stage at The 1865 – but make sure you raise your beers high up in the air to join in the celebration. As I said this band brings one hell of a party with them; they bring the rock and the roll with their tasty riffs, hard hitting rhythms and ultimate classic rock vocals – they are a band you will struggle taking your eyes off, and most importantly you wont be able to stop yourself from rocking with them!
Songs:
Wrong Way
Rat Race
Let’s Get Dirty

MASON HILL
Main Support
I don’t know if you have heard, but this band have found themselves at No.19 in the UK official charts and No.1 in the Rock/Metal charts! I guess that means they must be pretty darn good right? YES, yes is the right answer to that rhetorical question! They have absolutely smashed it with their debut album ‘Against The Wall’ and coming to Nozfest to hear that for yourselves should be a reason in itself to secure a ticket. This band is absolutely incredible and one you just HAVE to see live. Another example of pure classic rock influence which delves more into hard rock – they have their own sound and it is one you can’t help but appreciate and enjoy.
Mason Hill was actually the first New Wave of Classic Rock band that I (JodieBowie) discovered, and without this band I wouldn’t have dreamed up Nozfest….
Songs:
Broken Son
Against The Wall
D.N.A

SKAM
You wanna head bang to some heavier tunes? Well you better stick around for this band! This band have always been H.O.T on the NWOCR scene, and we are so proud to have them as part of this years Nozfest line-up. If you’ve not seen the band play before or heard their music, we are sure they are going to convert you into a fan. They are one of our slightly heavier bands on the line-up so if you crave more hard hitting riffs with a driving bass line, then this band are going to be the ones to catch… so don’t miss them when you go for a cigarette break, or you’ll end up regretting it!
Songs:
Green Eyes

Believe
Between The Eyes

HOLLOWSTAR
We are so excited to have Hollowstar on our line-up. These guys are a phenomenal young band, and Nozfest is the perfect place to catch them before they shoot off on tour with Mason Hill in September. These guys are more hard hitting rock ‘n’ roll with a driving force powered by epic bass lines. I have a gut feeling that this band are going to go down a treat with the crowd, whether you’ve heard them or not… they have a sound you can’t help but groove too. I know for a fact I’m going to be catching myself headbanging down the front when this band hit the stage… will I see you there too?
Songs:
Let You Down
Sinner
Good Man Gone

COLLATERAL
These awesome dudes were the first band to be booked for this line-up! Collateral are going to be the band to transport you back to the 80’s and remind you of long hot summers and Bon Jovi & Aerosmith. Sounds pretty good right? RIGHT! This is a band that appeals to all lovers of rock; I feel that they have a diverse enough sound that means although they take a lot of influence from 80’s rock, it isn’t at all cheesy – their songs stand up one their own and grab your attention with their catchy hooks and chorus’. This is a band that just oozes fun, happiness, sing-a-long lyrics and talent, making them one of the most loveable bands on the bill (if that is even possible, because everyone is so damn awesome!). There is no doubt that you’ll be having the time of your life whilst bopping to this band.
Songs:
Can’t Hold Me Down
Merry Go Round
Mr. Big Shot

BETH BLADE AND THE BEAUTIFUL DISASTERS
As Black Tree Vultures were unable to make this years Nozfest, we asked Beth and Co if they would like to show their beautiful faces again… and they said YES! So Beth is back guys! This girl sure does know how to rock, but then her idols are the legendary KISS so there is no need to doubt this chicks talents. It has to be said that her male band members are definitely not disasters, but they are beautiful – what a band! Beth channels pure rock ‘n’ roll badass and just so happens to be the only female on this line-up, which is a perfect reason to check this band out! Who doesn’t like a rock ‘n’ roll chick playing some hard hitting tune?! You never know, they may even treat us by playing some new songs they are working on for their new album…. πŸ˜‰ Worth popping your head in just in case don’t you think!
Songs:
Jack & Coke
Bad Habit

On and On

THE WICKED JACKALS
Returning are our Nozfest favourites The Wicked Jackals! These guys went down an absolute storm at the first Nozfest back in 2019, that everyone eagerly requested for them to play again… so here they are! I honestly think these lads are some of the nicest in the business, but they are also an awesome band. With Ollie’s Steve Marriott style vocals, Marty’s Jack Sparrow guitar skills, James’ drum adventures and Lex’s stage antics, this is a band you will love at first glance – every single member has their own individual personality and brings something unique to the band. I would say they are probably a lot of The Cult mixed in with a bit of Guns ‘n’ Roses. Even if you feel like you’re not a rock ‘n’ roll kind of person, you will still love this band. They’ve always proved themselves a huge hit with audiences, and Nozfest is no exception. We are so pleased and excited to have them back for a second year and hopefully see them on some line-ups in the years to come.
Songs:
Scream
Gone To The Dogs

Ain’t Gonna Change

WESTERN SAND
These guys are actually an EXTRA addition to the line-up. After Covid postponed this line-up from taking place in 2020, I felt like it was necessary to treat everyone to an extra epic band… so here they are, in the form of Western Sand.
These boys are actually local to Bournemouth/Southampton, so you’ll be experiencing some local talent when checking out this band. If you love your southern hard rock, your Black Stone Cherry, Thin Lizzy sort of bands, then Western Sand will be right up your street!
I have actually known the guys going on nearly 11years now, so it is an absolute pleasure to have them on this years line-up and gracing the Nozfest stage. I know they are going to go down well with our regular Nozzers and newbies alike. I could spend all day giving you reasons to check this band out, but basically… they are local lads, with an epic sound… CHECK ‘EM OUT! They are on early too so even more reason to save yourself a place down the front.
Songs:
Black Water Resolution
Whiskey Tripper
Welcome To The Badlands

TROUBLE COUNTY
This band are going to wakeup some unique tastes that is for sure. They are very riffy, very southern rock… but there is just something about this band that is different I can’t quite put my finger on, but I’m living for it regardless. They’ll get your foots tapping and your head nodding, I’m pretty sure they are going to go down an absolute treat with a nice cold beer or two as well. A perfect band to get you into the festival vibes and warm up your rock ‘n’ roll souls!
Songs:
World To Me
Lost In The Fall
Awake

SPYDER BYTE
So these gam sleaze rockers are KICKING off the festivities!! If you love your 80’s hair metal then this band is going to turn your head for sure, and what a way to kick off Nozfest! Definitely get some L.A Guns, Motley Crue and Faster Pussycat vibes from this band. This band will get your blood pumping, get the adrenaline running through your veins and get you more than ready for a whole day of pure rock and roll in the most epic atmosphere ever! Don’t miss out on this band opening the festival, front row views never last long at Nozfest… so you will miss out for sure if you don’t get there early.
Songs:
New Blood
Vixen
Black Velvet Life

Hopefully some of these bands, if not all, have tickled your fancy and you’re going to pop along to Nozfest to see for yourself! We really hope to see you there!
Make sure to tell your friends, help us spread the word!

Gigs Coming Up On The SOUTH COAST You Should ATTEND

SO! Gigs are potentially going to be a thing again!! HALLELUJAH!!! Some are of course still going to be socially distanced and restricted… but some could be genuinely normal! To celebrate the occasison I’m listing a few gigs I think you should attend in the South Coast area (Bournemouth/Southampton) that are coming up in 2021.

Most of these events are New Wave of Classic Rock Bands, and they mostly take place in Southampton!
Tickets to all the events are listed under each event – just click on the blue link πŸ™‚

STOP, STOP! (The 1865)
Friday 21st May
This show just so happens to be the re-opening of The 1865 in Southampton, as it’ll be the first gig that takes place after the Lockdown 3.0! So that’s reason enough to come down and support live music and music venues… BUT… not only is it a re-opening show, it is a Stop, Stop! show, with support from Spyder Byte! Stop, Stop! also have an album coming out 1st May, so this’ll be a chance to catch some of the songs in the flesh, fresh off the CD press.
Tickets

KING CREATURE (The 1865)
Sunday 23rd May
If you like your heavier rock and metal, then this is a gig you’re going to want to get yourself to! It is of course another social distanced show, but that isn’t an issue with bands of this calibre on the bill.
Tickets

GIN ANNIE (The 1865)
Saturday 5th June
Gin Annie are headlining a Rock Night down at The 1865 in Southampton – with support from some pretty sweet bands, Gallows Circus and Crooked Shapes. That’s one tasty NWOCR line-up if you ask me! I’d grab some tickets while there is still some hanging about πŸ˜‰
Tickets

SKINNY KNOWLEDGE (Canvas)
Friday 9th July
This will be the bands debut live show! So that is already one heck of a reason to get yourself down to Canvas in Bournemouth – I’m also going to assume it’ll be their album launch show too, so it is practically two-in-one. I believe Black Tree Vultures are the support band, and this will be the perfect time to catch their new line-up.
Tickets

The Treatment – Headliners at Nozfest 2021

NOZFEST (The 1865)
Saturday 14th August

Tickets

LA GUNS (Engine Rooms)
Thursday 9th September
These real life 80’s legends are making a beeline down to the South Coast for a show in Southampton! These guys are original rock ‘n’ rollers and are a total treat to watch – so it’ll be a show not worth missing in my opinion.
Tickets

MASSIVE WAGONS (Engine Rooms)
Wednesday 15th September
Another exciting treat for those who live their New Wave of Classic Rock! The one and only Massive Wagons are coming to Southampton on their ‘House of Noise’ tour, and their support is no other than an equally awesome band… The Lazy’s! Tickets

BAD TOUCH (The Joiners)

What a way to kick off the last month of 2021 than a show with Bad Touch and Piston! Both bands are epic and always out on a banging show, so definitely get down to this one if you can because it’ll be the best way to see out the year, believe me! I think Black Tree Vultures may also be supporting this show… but don’t take my word for it in case I’m wrong.
Tickets

BROKEN WITT REBELS (The Joiners)
Saturday 18th December
Catch Broken Witt Rebels on their OK Hotel tour! I believe this is a rescheduled date, so if you’ve been thinking of tagging along to this show for a while… now is your time!! These are a popular band with NWOCRockers, so if you’re thinking of going to any of the shows already listed… you might as well pop down to this one as well πŸ˜‰
Tickets

I hope some of these gigs may tickle your fancy – maybe I’ll even see you at one or two! πŸ˜‰

If more gigs get added down South in the upcoming months, then I shall do a PART 2!

JodieBowie : Why New Wave Of Classic Rock Is The BEST Place To Find New MUSIC

There is a fantastic little group on Facebook called New Wave of Classic Rock (NWOCR) and this has been the main place where I have discovered so many fantastic bands that light up my world! Seeing as I’m a promoter working mostly with NWOCR bands, I thought this would be a great opportunity to give this fantastic group a big shout out.

NWOCR is a Facebook group set up by Jeremy Wills, Peter Rattray, Katharina Ils-Kelber, Neil Barrell, Steve Fished and Ian Long and later joined by Gary Spiller and Richard Brindley. The aim of the group is to provide a platform where fans can come together and share photos, videos and recommendations from this great new scene. The timeline for bands to be featured in the group is that they have not released anything before 2010.

NWOCR is such a fantastic community and I am more than glad that I managed to stumble across it.

Back in 2018 I started listening to a lot more ‘local’ music. I was already a promoter but wanted to work with more bands than the ones I knew in my area. One day I was walking into town and my Spotify started churning out these songs by bands I’d never heard of… I headed straight to FB to find out who these bands were and this brought me to The New Wave Of Classic Rock Facebook Group and changed my whole life.

Without NWOCR I wouldn’t have been able to have put on Nozfest.
Nozfest is my very own New Wave of Classic Rock festival which takes place annually at The 1865 in Southampton usually in August. The line-up typically features 9-10 bands and is an all day festival. There will be links listed at the end if you wish to check Nozfest out.

The first few bands I came across where Mason Hill and Massive Wagons, closely followed by Those Damn Crows. These bands absolutely blew my mind! They reminded me so much of bands that I already loved… but they were fresh, exciting and I felt like I was the only one who knew of these bands, which made it even more exciting!

The talent in this group is phenomenal… it is honestly unbeatable. I maintain that I am the luckiest person to have come across the bands I have, and to have met and worked with them – life goal completed.

It is the most supportive community I have seen. No one judges any one, everyone is so passionate about the music they are creating, promoting, sharing, enjoying… I’ve never been to a ‘NWOCR’ gig and felt out of my comfort zone. It’s like one huge family, it really really is. There will always be someone you know in the crowd, and every person there is just living their best life in that moment that the positive energy radiates round the room, it’s incredible!

There will be something for everyone in this group, no matter if you are more into metal than rock. There will definitely be a few bands that tickle your fancy, you may even surprise yourself with what you are drawn to. That is what is so great about discovering new music, you just don’t know what you are going to come across.
If you love anything 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, rock, metal, blues, grunge, pop, punk… there will honestly be a band for you.

There’s absolutely no competition either. Every band supports another and sort of stays in their own lane (if that makes sense), no band is out to copy another. Everyone really ‘knows’ each other… there is just zero negativity, and that is so rare these days. It’s all about music and passion, it’s so refreshing to see so much kindness, respect, support and love, especially for such awesome music. NWOCR isn’t technically a genre… but in my opinion it’s one of the best for music.

I cannot wait for live music to return and to get myself down the front at a live show! I have missed all these bands so much. As great as Spotify and YouTube are… I just NEED to see those beautiful talented humans in the flesh and feel that rock ‘n’ roll vibe you can’t get anywhere else. I’m sure many people are feeling exactly the same, including the bands themselves.

This group is relatively small in terms of todays standard of music, however it is also HUGE. NWOCR is everywhere! It’s in Classic Rock magazine, bands are being played on Planet Rock and some bands are even playing festivals like Download! This just proves that people’s love for rock music will never go away, it is one huge community and has fans from all walks of life. There is still a place in the world for those ‘unconventional’ bands, and they are wanted more than ever. It may be a little harder for them to get their music out to the masses, but by god will it be worth it.

You’ll make new friends and meet so many remarkable people. If you are passionate about music, you’re bound to find a friend for life in this group. The NWOCR is like a second family to me. All my favourite bands are there, so many people are enjoying their music too, there are so many gigs and festivals to attend all year round (in normal times) and no matter where you are you’re bound to see familiar faces. It’s FANTASTIC! The best feeling in the world that.

It has been an absolute pleasure to work with so many incredible bands… Massive Wagons, The Treatment, Collateral, Those Damn Crows, Mason Hill, Black Tree Vultures, Wicked Jackals, Stone Broken, Gallows Circus, Kris Barras, Skam, Hollowstar…. ALL THE BANDS!!! You make my heart fill with so much love and happiness you wouldn’t believe.

Lastly I am so so proud of every single band that puts themselves out there, creates fantastic music and is living their dreams. You are always on my mind, and I will always support you no matter how small you remain or how big you get. Thank you for bringing so much light and positivity to my life, and thank you so much for helping me achieve my own dreams along the way. Our journey’s are not over yet!

In the words of Those Damn Crows… “Rock ‘n’ Roll AIN’T DEAD!“.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog, and hopefully go on to discover many many more awesome bands, thanks to the NWOCR group.

NOZFEST 2020 – Line-up!

Nozfest 2020 is a THING! Blimey! I can’t believe how lucky I am to have my dream not only be a reality, but also be something that a lot of other people are looking forward to! Damn, thank you all so much! You guys are awesome, I love you all dearly… now without further ado, here is the 2020 line-up!!

Tickets will be on sale as of SUNDAY 13th OCTOBER!www.nozfest.org

Banner.png

Nozfest 2020 has got completely new artwork, a new logo, a new font and it looks absolutely amazing – it feels like my dreams are real things now, rather than just a successful one off. I hope you guys like the new designs as much as I do. I will just add that the ticket price has gone up by a little bit for next year, just because of funding and I’m planning on doing merchandise this year and I need a little extra help along the way to make that possible. This festival is completely self-funded, so it is a huge risk every time I put one on, but it is a risk I am willing to take!

SPYDER BYTE
Spyder Byte
These lovely lads played a JodieBowie Rock Night earlier in the year and gained a lot of new followers! I was so impressed there and then, that I just had to ask them to be part of Nozfest 2020. I know for sure these guys are going to be a great addition to the line-up and are going to melt some faces – I’m sure they will gain some new fans too, and be accepted into the Nozfest family πŸ˜›

TROUBLE COUNTY
Trouble County
A band from the area, that I am sure are going to delight your eyes and ears with their music. This band is a little different to some of the others on the line-up, but I think they will be a great crowd pleaser – especially for those who like a bit heavier, grungy style of music. This band has also featured on some JodieBowie Rock Nights so are one to keep an eye out for.Β

BLACK TREE VULTURES
BTV
Another personal favourite for JodieBowie. Black Tree Vultures are insane, and I’ll support them no matter what. If you were keeping a close eye out at Nozfest 2019, you may have noticed I was in fact wearing a Black Tree Vultures custom made dress… as a little hint as to whom may be playing next year πŸ˜‰ Well done to those who may have picked up on it!
I’m very excited for you Nozzers to see these boys play live – and hopefully you’ll love them just as much as I do, and they’ll become a firm favourite amongst us Nozzers πŸ˜€

THE WICKED JACKALS

I am thrilled to have these guys back at Nozfest!! They absolutely smashed it last year, and gained a lot of new fans who desperately wanted them back… so here they are!! These guys are truly not to be missed, so make sure you make a note of their set time and get yourselves down the front!

COLLATERAL

I’ve been a fan of Collateral for a while now, and this band were actually the first band I booked in for Nozfest 2020! I saw them play live at The Joiners last month, and they sure do know how to put on a great show and I’m positive they are going to be an absolute treat for all you Nozzers.

HOLLOWSTAR
Hollowstar
This band is a new discovery to me – they have been recommended to me many many times, and I thought it was about time I checked them out! This band is awesome, and if you haven’t seen them yet you are in for an absolute blistering experience at Nozfest. I think they are going to add something extra to this years Nozfest, and I’m really looking forward to seeing my set for myself and also seeing the reactions of all you guys.

SKAM
skam
And another new discovery for me! Again, Skam are an absolutely phenomenal band and I am certain they are going to make Nozfest 2020 one to remember. I know next year’s Nozfest has quite a different line-up and style of music compared to this years, but I’m hoping there will still be lots of new discoveries for people and that Skam will be one of them.

MASON HILL
Mason Hill
There may be some slight favouritism here, because Mason Hill are my favourite band! I adore these boys with all my heart, and they’ve helped me gain so much confidence, that I probably wouldn’t even been reaching for my dreams if I hadn’t discovered their music. I am ecstatic to have them be part of Nozfest, and I know that they are going to put on an absolutely blinding show for you all.

THE TREATMENT
The Treatment
These boys are absolutely incredible, and I just know for sure that they are going to do a magnificent job of headlining Nozfest!! If you like Krokus/ACDC then you are going love these guys. They are the definition of modern Rock ‘n’ Roll. I’ve also known Tom for quite some years now, and it’ll be great to have a friendly face headlining the festival with a band, that is definitely for sure going to get you all rocking to the point you just wont want the evening to come to an end.
