JodieBowie : Create Your Own Rock Band

This idea just popped into my head, and I thought it would be a pretty cool blog topic. Play along as well of course!! Let’s see what kind of Rock Band I’d create 😉

First off, I think I’m going to go with a 5 piece – 2 guitarists, 1 frontman, 1 bassist, 1 drummer.

I’m also going to include people who are still alive and performing, as that sort of makes it more realistic. Can include any band, any genre, any popularity….. GO!

GUITAR 1
Ronnie Wood

ronnie-wood.png

Got to have Ronnie! He has the energy, the fun, the banter, the skills… he’ll fit right in. There has to be a legend among this line-up, and what greater legend than the man himself, the Rolling Stone!! I feel he’d be a delight to watch perform on stage, judging by my own experience of watching him. He’s also got such a passionate talent, and I love that when it shines through in musicians. I know for sure he could keep up with the youngsters, and maybe even teach them a thing or two! I personally love his personality, his image and most importantly his guitar sound – for that reason, he has to be in this band ❤

GUITAR 2
Kris Barras

5b1f81337a244

I could watch this dude play guitar for HOURS!! I’ve said so many times how talented he is, and for that reason he has to be in this band! Secondly, he’d be absolutely amazing at backing vocals, and I’m sure he could pull off some pretty epic solo’s with Ronnie Wood. I’m a huge fan of his guitar playing, it is so musically satisfying, his talent oozes out in every note he plays, and for me…. he’s captivating to watch as a musician. I think I’d share rhythm and lead duties between Barras and Wood, just because I adore both guitarists and want to hear both fully express their awesomeness.

BASSIST
Dougie Poynter

McFly-Dougie-Poynter-920x584

I think Dougie would fit in really well image wise, but he’s also an awesome live performer which is always important! Dougie can also sing backing vocals, so there should be some pretty sweet harmonies, one would hope. His energy would take this band to another level – if you haven’t seen him on stage…. he is FUCKING EPIC!! I’m a 100% positive he’d be able to work a crowd super hard, and would be a vital character when it comes to audience participation and boosting the energy in the room. He’d keep everyone on their toes, and work so well with the guitarists I’m sure.

DRUMMER
Kyle Hughes

maxresdefault

Another excellent choice image wise, in my opinion. He’s also a brilliant drummer, and I really enjoy watching him perform. He constantly looks like he’s having fun, and a good time, as well as expressing his passion – vital points to be a musician in this band. It’s good to know he is also capable of helping out on backing vocals; always helpful! I feel he has power, ambition and drive and would work amazingly with Dougie when it comes to the rhythm section of the band.

FRONTMAN
John Corabi

jonCorabi500 (1)

Absolutely 100% has to be fronted by John Corabi ❤ His voice is everything! Especially when it comes to rock ‘n’ roll. He can take any song and make it sound beautiful – that is something I love, adore and look for in vocalists. A voice that lets me fade away into a blissful tone of loveliness. I enjoy his stage presence, I think he’s got a wonderful rugged image, he can reach some incredible notes vocally, and he can also sing soft slow songs absolutely beautifully.

BAND NAME : LEGENDS!

10 Songs that HAVE to be on the setlist :
1. Sweet Emotions – Aerosmith

2. What Goes Around – Dead Daisies

3. Midnight Rambler – The Rolling Stones

4. Rockin’ In The Free World – Neil Young

5. Feel Like Makin’ Love – Bad Company

6. Mama Weer All Crazee Now – Slade

7. Paper Plane – Status Quo

8. Enter Sandman – Metallica

9. Ooh La La – The Faces

10. Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen

Oh my gosh – I friggin’ love this band I’ve created! Imagine if it was real – would be so damn epic!! I think visually and musically this would be a pretty great band. Got some awesome musicians in there, who give their upmost energy when it comes to performances, as well as them all being incredibly talented. ❤

SO! What did you think of my very own Rock Band? Any members a surprise to you? Good, bad? Let me know!! And have a go yourselves, I’d love to know what you’d come up with ❤

30 Song Challenge

It’s meant to be the ’30 day song challenge’, but I thought it would be more interesting in a blog form. Feel free to repost and join in etc 😛

1. What’s your favourite song?
Come on Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners.
Why? I have no idea! I just heard it on The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and fell in love with it. Makes me feel very happy, glowy and special and it’s a pretty good tune… come on!!

2. What’s your least favourite song?
Old Habits Die Hard by Mick Jagger.
I don’t know why, but I remember my Dad playing this a lot when I was a kid, and I fucking hated it. I would cry and demand him to turn it off. Still not a huge fan. Sorry Mick.

3. What’s a song that makes you happy?
– Join Together by The Who.
Well hearing that live in Hyde Park was pretty fucking special. Definitely makes me happy… I mean who doesn’t want to join together with the band.

4. What’s a song that makes you sad?
– Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones.
It’s always made me a bit teary. It’s a very beautiful song.

Rolling-Stones-McJagger_l

5. What’s a song that reminds you of someone?
– Bag of Bones by Europe.
When we went to the beach back in April with a few mates this guy was listening to Europe obviously, and I remember this song coming on and thinking “yeah I really like this”. So it just reminds me of that day which was lovely and of them… unfortunately.

6. What’s a song that reminds you of somewhere?
– Penny Lane by The Beatles.
I don’t know why but when I used to sing it I would think about Didcot. Fuck knows why… it’s nothing a like!

7. What’s a song that reminds you of a certain event?
– I Love To Boogie by Marc Bolan & T.Rex.
Back when I lived in Didcot (long before I was a proper Bolan fan and knew his story etc) I must have been in Year 7 or 8 and me and my mate Danielle used to take my dog for a walk and I can remember us dancing and singing along to I Love To Boogie and making up a dance routine and everything. Was great fun!

8. What’s a song you know all the words to?
– Star Star by The Rolling Stones and Town Called Malice by The Jam.
I know the words to so many songs but those two songs took my ages to get right and in the right order and at the right… tempo? So pretty proud of that 😛

9. What’s a song you can dance to?
– I Don’t Feel Like Dancing by The Scissor Sisters.
Haha, I’ve made up an entire routine to this. I just love it. I mean I can dance to many many many songs… but this takes the biscuit I reckon.

10. What’s a song you can fall asleep to?
– Broken Stones by Paul Weller.
A very emotional song to me. I’ve only just discovered it, but it’s already been inked into my foot. It’s a very special and sentimental lyric I guess joined with a very beautiful piano piece and harmonica and wonderful bass track. It’s relaxing but meaningful.

d3rqp6-l-610x610-scarf-mod-checkered+chequered-checks-paul+weller-jam

11. What’s your favourite song by your favourite band?
– Tumbling Dice by The Rolling Stones.
It’s been my favourite Stones song since I as 7 years old. It ain’t gonna change. I don’t know why, but the melody is just perfection… and that intro… fucking orgasmic man. Favourite song live as well, so that’s another reason. Plus if you really unpick the guitar parts you’ll discover just how gorgeous the song really is and how talented my boys are. Wow.

12. What’s a song by a band you hate?
– Steal My Girl by One Direction.
Do I have to have an explanation or is it pretty self explanatory?

13. What’s a song you consider to be a guilty pleasure?
– Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson feat Bruno Mars.
Don’t judge me! It’s catchy… and I fucking own dancing to it 😉

14. What’s a song no one would expect you to love?
– Hold Back The River by James Bay.
I don’t know, don’t ask! I just connected with it when I was going through a difficult time.

15. What’s a song that describes you
– Bitch by The Rolling Stones.
Shit that song was written for me man! Like I ain’t even kidding, if it wasn’t written about me it was definitely meant for me in some way or another.
I also adore the genius of the lyrics so maybe that’s why 😉
“When you call my name, I salivate like a Pavlov dog” and “it must be love…. it’s a bitch!”

16. What’s a song you used to love but now hate?
– Island In The Stream by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.
Well it used to make me feel really happy…. now it makes me feel sad. Fuck you memories.

17. What’s a song you hear on the radio?
– Town Called Malice by The Jam.
I dunno, I don’t listen to the radio, but that was the last song I heard on the radio so….. it’s a sign!!

18. What’s a song you wish you heard on the radio?
– Every single song by The Stones and The Who and the list goes on………
Because there’s a load of crap on it nowadays. I mean seriously… stop writing songs about fucking your girlfriend in the pussy, fuck sake no one cares!

zap_who

19. What’s your favourite song from your favourite album?
– Rocks Off by The Rolling Stones on Exile on Main St.
I’m slowly falling in love with Sticky Fingers, but for now this will do!

20. What’s a song you listen to when you’re angry?
– My Generation by The Who.
DUH! That song was written on angst.
I do also rock out to Sympathy for the Devil by the Stones but that can get pretty brutal… especially vocally 😉

21. What’s a song you listen to when you’re happy?
– You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC.
Who doesn’t?!?! Fuck yeah!!! If you don’t like AC/DC it’s cos you’re tone deaf. Sorry it’s the truth… it’s fucking AC/DC man!

Michaud-ACDC-1200

22. What’s a song you listen to when you’re sad?
– Moonlight Mile by The Rolling Stones.
It’s grown on me… and was literally the only song I listened to for about 2 months.

23. What’s a song you want played at your wedding?
– That’s Entertainment by The Jam
Oh there is so many. I’ve already got the entire day including the songs all planned out. Of course a Stones tribute band will be playing, but I would like some Paul Weller to be played so That’s Entertainment and the first song should be Broken Stones just to pre-warn you future Hubby.

24. What’s a song you wish you could play?
– Pinball Wizard by The Who.
I shall learn it! However, I can just about sing it… woo!

25. What’s a song that makes you feel guilty?
– None….
Do people really have songs that make them feel guilty… damn.

26. What’s a song from your childhood?
– All of McFly’s songs…
Yes, I was a Galaxy Defender in my Primary School years and still am. I support McBusted 110% and I don’t feel bad about that at all 😛

MCFLY-682_971388a

27. What was your favourite song this time last year?
– Come on Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners.
Boom! I wonder why that might be.

28. What’s a song you want played at your funeral?
– Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones.
Oh please!! PLEASE!! That would be just too funny and epic. Yep, that’s the tune.

29. What’s a song that makes you laugh?
– Star Star by The Rolling Stones.
Haha… ahh I love it! I know some Star Fuckers so this song does make me extremely overly happy and I do often laugh. I mean… “giving head to Steve McQueen” and “I heard about your Polaroids, now that’s what I call obscene”… “you’re tricks with fruit, is kinda cute, I bet you keep your pussy clean”… oh my I laugh!

30. What’s a song you wish you could play on an instrument.
– Your Mama Wont Like Me by Suzi Quatro.
Fuck I wish I could play bass like that man. She owns the bass! She’s like… the goddess of rock ‘n’ roll. YES!

SUzi_QUatro

Well that’s me done!
Let me know what you thought etc.
Try doing this quiz as well, it’s good fun and makes you think a lot. Hopefully you’ve learnt more about my musical tastes.

Over and out!

Jodie.

BST the Modfather and The Who!

I saw The mother-fucking Who baby! Completely different experience to the last time I attended the BST Hyde Park festival but it was still a bloody brilliant experience which of course I’m going to share with you. If you’ve not been to this festival yet….GO! That’s not a request, it’s a demand.

THE WHO – HYDE PARK, LONDON – FRIDAY 26TH JUNE 2015

Thank you so much to my cousin Laurence for informing me about this event back in October/November/December last year! The line up sold me straight away. Not only was there The Who, but Johnny Marr AND Paul Weller! I HAD to go! No questions.

Thank you very much to my mate Jayden for coming with me and making the whole day brilliant! We need to make this some sort a tradition to go every year or something. I’m taking you to The Stones next.

20150626_125845

We had a real quick mooch around the festival, which to be honest was pretty cool… exact same layout to when I was last there… it’s like a little village with houses and pubs etc, it’s really cute! There was so many food stalls… everything from burgers, hog roast, smoothies, juices, brownies, ice cream to pizza, salads, chicken wings and fish ‘n’ chips! So much food… so little time and money!
After a walk around we ended up at the smallest stage (Summer Stage) and Rival State were just about to start, so we decided to watch them. They played Download so kinda knew they were going to be heavy rather than like classic Mod… not bad though! Decent band in my opinion. Check them out > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltW_uhU49yk

We walked back to the main stage (Great Oak Stage) and caught a bit of Gaz Coombes then found a space to sit down and wait for Johnny Marr, who was an artist I was desperate to see. Lead guitarist of The Smiths if you didn’t already know! Have to admit he was looking pretty fine 😉 Most pleased with his cover of “I Fought The Law” by The Clash. Marr is definitely one of the coolest looking blokes out there! You could tell who came to see him… all black with Doc Martines and the classic Paul Weller cut but in black… deffo’s a Marr fan! I managed to film a bit of “Money Money” I loveeee that song sooo much! Finished the set off with “How Soon Is Now?” which is a Smiths song of course. Thank you BST for giving us this legend 😀
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_P5iSG_APE <— check Johnny out here!

11703016_717199048385864_8108416124457226140_n

There’s something rather awesome about seeing a sea of Who t-shirts and people looking exactly like Paul Weller! It’s pretty epic. Lot’s of full on Mods in suits as well. I love a Mod I do!
I wish I was cool enough to be a Mod… maybe that is something to work on 😉

We headed to the Barclay Card Stage next to catch Vintage Trouble. I saw this band support the Stones back in 2013 so wanted to see them again! Still as epic! The singer definitely models himself on James Brown which I think is so cool. Proper good, old school music. There’s nothing much better than that if you ask me. The singer even crowd surfed! They are supporting ACDC on their current tour, so you lucky dicks with tickets are gonna have an awesome time. Here’s them at Glastonbury this year > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpKiUqhKUrw < and that is how you master the art of being a front man my friend! 😛

18783_717199088385860_8261557288358379235_n

Quick dash back to the Main Stage to watch the Kaiser Chiefs. Not my personal cup of tea, I like a few of their songs though. Still a bloody good band live… I think after seeing Ricky Wilson as a judge on the Voice, I kind of went off them. STILL GOOD THOUGH! A lot of energy, far too much energy but that’s what makes a good band. Could tell they were very excited to be playing the festival and supporting Paul Weller and The Who. I mean who wouldn’t want to be a part of this line up? People with no music taste obviously. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hamKl-su8PE < just in case you don’t know who they are…..

I’m going to be completely honest here and say I only bought the tickets when I saw the line up. I wasn’t a huge Who fan at the time of the announcement… but it was the ultimate MOD fest. I had to be there. I knew it was going to be more than epic. Live a little… go see and band you don’t like or an act you’ve never heard of. I’ve definitely become a bigger fan of Weller and The Who since seeing them live.

1435347920-379262c8b52b46aea3c38fd1f00dd592-600x337

We stayed in our space as we had a pretty good spot. I mean we couldn’t see the stage but we could see the screen in front of us and that’s good enough for me at these kind of events! Funny thing is, even though the actual layout of standing was a little more compacted than The Stones… I was actually stood in the exact same place as two years ago! What are the chances of that?!
The Modfather himself Mr.Paul Weller was on next! Oh. My. God. I am so in love with this man I can’t even explain. I love him as a person, his style, his music, his hair… his voice and of course his musicianship. He’s my idea of perfect. Not gonna lie, my heart did skip a beat several times whilst I was watching him. Almost, almost shed a tear… I definitely fell in to deep love after 2 seconds of him walking on stage. I turned to Jayden and said “I’m going to marry him, I love him” even a woman behind me said “oh he is sex on legs isn’t he”… YES!
He played lots of songs I knew such as “Changing Man” as well as a few numbers from his new album. I really enjoyed “Saturns Pattern”. That’s a really lovely good amazing song. He then introduced Miles Kane who came out to sing “That’s Entertainment” with him. We ended up singing along with some old guy who was very into it 😉
Finished with the classic that was “Town Called Malice” (another Jam number)! Got very excited for that song! Definitely a converted Paul Weller fan for life now. I HAVE to see him again. I’m missing him already! I love you Modfather!
I’ll leave with a few links to check out… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v9WhRpQw8E

“Jayden, Jayden, Jayden……………………………….. who are you?” is what poor Jayden had to put up with for 17 hours! 😉
Or it was “Who we seeing? The Who? Who?”… damn these jokes are so old!
“Who’s next? Yes!”.

20150626_200358

Now all we had to do was wait for…. The fucking WHO!!!!
One of the best bands in the entire world, that’s no understatement or bias it’s pure fact. One of the originals as well. How freaking lucky am I to have seen The Stones and The Who *faints*.
“You’re a long way away……………………………….. but we will fucking reach you” was the first thing that came out of Pete Townshends mouth before the band started blasting out “I Can’t Explain”. I can’t believe that Roger Daltrey looks like he legit hasn’t changed since the 80’s. Now 71 you’d think they’d be showing signs of old age…. not a single wrinkle! Pete Townshend still rocks the windmilling!! One of the most iconic guitar players in the world. I’ve noticed The Who very much seems like one big family which I love at gigs, when the whole audience is ONE. Not a lot of other groups have that atmosphere.

1435354530-f5853de303a24a4fdf2bbfe93fc25d83-600x404
Of course there was a lot of moshing and beers been thrown absolutely everywhere during “My Generation” and “Join Together”, what do you expect? It HAD to happen! Really enjoyed chanting “we are the mods we are the mods we are we are we are the mods” as well! Pleased they played a few tracks from Quadrophenia. “Love Reign Over Me” was absolutely magical. I can’t believe Roger can still belt out them notes. Jesus Christ man, that’s power. I definitely got goose bumps from that song.
There is something extremely powerful about having 20,000 people singing along to Baba O’Riley at the same time… boy, did I get chills down my neck when every sang “it’s only teenage wasteland”. Wow! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPCJVZZA8dY < a collection of videos that I took from the event.
They also played classics such as “Pictures of Lily”, “The Kids Are Alright”, “I Can See For Miles”, “Pinball Wizard” (a favourite of mine), “You Better You Bet” and finished off with “Won’t Get Fooled Again” (another favourite).

1435355496-77881f1ee77326dde680ed3372a4602e-600x938

I’d do anything to go back and do this exact gig all over again! I’m missing to so much. Oh please get me a Tardis and take me back!! Even though I am shattered, let’s all give a huge round of applause for Jayden who hadn’t slept since Wednesday night and still rocked out to The Who and had the best time ever… legend!
Make sure you tune into Glastonbury tonight to catch them. I mean it wont be as cool as Hyde Park, but it’ll still blow your minds!!!
Here’s a few links to The Who for you if you need reminding why they are legends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdLIerfXuZ4

Not a lot else I can really put into words. It’s more feelings!
If you’ve not seen the Who yet, you’ve probably missed out BUT check them out anyway and appreciate their genius. We need more youngsters to really understand the real background of music. If you have seen The Who…. HI-5!!!

One last thing…. thank you very much for bringing the old Jodie back! Rock on!

Seeya soon!

Jodie 😉

My Top 5 Rock ‘n’ Rollers

As you should know by now, I’m not a lover of auto-tuned synthesized crap music. I’m more of a traditional rock ‘n’ roller with a bit of Jodie splashed in…. so I thought I’d share with you my favourite original classic oldies, in no particular order!

1. The Who
thewho

You gotta dig The Who! I’ve liked The Who since I was about 7 years old. I first discovered them through the Rock ‘n’ Roll circus where they performed “A Quick One”…. oh my fucking god that’s an amazing track. First of all, witnessing Keith Moon on drums should be enough to turn you on to this phenominal band but then you see Pete Townshend windmilling… I mean, any guitarist is a fan of that stuff but probably wouldn’t try it at home; and then you’ve got this curly haired blonde hunk swinging his microphone all over the place. Come on! That’s what you call a fucking rock ‘n’ roll band! Fuck Kayne West, these boys were some of the original bad boys. Smashing up their gear, putting dynamite in their drum kits (cheers for the inspiration Keith)! I’ve always had a soft spot for Keith Moon, he was a lovable character and my favourite Who! It’s a shame he’s no longer with us. The Who will always be one of the most influential bands of all time…. they closed the Olympic Ceremony for goodness sake, so don’t tell me they are a shit band because they are a piece of British History, and I’m proud to have them belong to our nation and to show them off at such historical events! WE ARE THE MODS! (P.S watch Quadrophenia!)

2. David Bowie
263637_232836616734616_100000248386109_871339_4625242_n

He has to be in my top 5! Anyone who says they’re not inspired by Bowie is absolute bullshit, and if you’ve not heard of David Bowie… please exit this blog now!
I’m very much inspired by David Bowie as a singer as well as a performer. I believe in adapting an onstage persona and dressing up etc. I love dressing up and I probably am influenced by Bowie in that department… nothing is too outrageous for me. Bowie has a very unique and can adapt to so many different styles. He’s just such an influential figure and we all love him to bits don’t we. Everyone knows a Bowie song… trust me you do, one of his songs is even on Shrek! Bowie is a national treasure and has inspired so many musicians who we know and love today…. Lady Gaga for example! Please perform again David!

3. Rod Stewart
rodstewart-624-1377866644

Say what you like, but I adore this man so much. No, it’s not because of The Faces and Ronnie Wood. It’s because of Roderick himself. I could listen to him sing all day. His voice is absolutely beautiful, it’s so husky and… ugghhh… I love it, it just melts me into a puddle of gooeyness. Of course I love The Faces, but I’m also a fan of his solo career. His songs make me feel so good: ‘Hot Legs’, ‘Maggie May’, ‘Do Ya’ and who doesn’t shed a tear when they hear ‘We Are Sailing’. It’s just his voice….it’s incredible, there is no one out there that can do what Rod does and it absolutely sucks that once he’s gone, that’s it for us. I urge you, if you’ve not listened to him before, I urge you now… go on YouTube and listen to ‘Sailing’ and just sit there and listen. Don’t check facebook at the same time… just sit and listen. It’s so powerful! Go and do it now! I’m getting emotional just thinking about it…. THAT’S MUSIC. That’s what music should do to you…. reduce you to tears. It angers me so much that we don’t have that anymore and I honestly don’t think I will be able to live in a society where musicians like this don’t exist or are forgotten. “The First Cut Is The Deepest”.

4. Status Quo

I know, I know… there’s better bands than Quo out there, but I love them! Status Quo was my first concert as well, so I guess it’s thanks to them that I love live music. Who doesn’t love the smell of sweat and the constant neck-ache from headbanging?
Gonna surprise you all and tell you that my favourite Quo number is in fact ‘Pictures of Matchstick-Men’. With a band like Quo you have to have it on full-blast or nothing!
I used to come home from school when I was about 9 or 10 and put Quo on and make up dance routines… which I still know! That’s the sign of a good band. Rick Parfett is pretty hot as well, get’s the old heart pumping 😉 I think I must have seen Quo almost every year at Christmas since I was about 8 years old. Who doesn’t love a telecaster gyrating out of a mans crotch?! Who doesn’t headbang like buggery when Quo comes on? Status Quo is basically part of the family now. Guilty pleasure… yes I do love Bula Quo!
Sorry, I must dash to go and rock out to this band immediately! GO DO IT TO!

5. The Rolling Stones
tumblr_mbuf7d5mK41qf0s13o1_500

Oh did you think I forgot?
Of course these original bad boy rock ‘n’ rollers are in my top 5!
Do I really need to explain why? They are the biggest and the best, what else is there to say. Let’s just say One Direction wont still be doing it by the time they are in their 70’s. RESPECT MAN! These bunch of oldies could probably keel over any minute from the amount of energy they put into their shows, which would put any young band of 25 year olds to shame, but they are still here! It’s a miracle and also a blessing! You honestly have to see them live to appreciate just how fit (I mean in health and physicality) these guys are… I wouldn’t be able to do what Mick does without running out of breath and I’m 19! He is the ultimate frontman. They are so diverse in genre when it comes to music, they’ve adapted through the ages… from the swinging 60’s right through to crappy 2015, they’ve seen it all and done it all. I’ve been a fan for 14 years, I’ve been branded with their logo and I’m proud that I ball my eyes out, faint, scream and hyper-ventilate when ever I see anything to do with them, or when I’ve seen them live. I probably didn’t even see the gig because I had so many tears in my eyes! That’s when you know you are doing it right. When you’re 72 and 19 year old girls are still wetting themselves at the sight of you. “Let me please introduce myself… the ultimate Stones princess… the ultimate female Jagger impersonator”.

I’m more than just a fan of music. I’m a fanatic. I don’t listen to music, I feel it!
People will never understand the power it has over me. I’m that girl who spends 3 hours in a music shop looking through vinyl and CD’s for hidden gems knowing exactly what’s worth the money and what isn’t. I absorb music how others drink water.

Seeya in my next blog!

1. Who is your favourite Rolling Stone?
– Ah, well I love them all for different reasons.
Ronnie Wood is my baby, I love him in the context of how people love their partners, but not as passionately obviously.
Keith Richards is my God. He loves his fans so much and it really comes across, and I really connect with that.
Brian Jones founded the band, so I am forever grateful to him for giving us such a wonderful gift.
Mick Jagger, my hero, my idol! So I’m going to say Mick is my favourite because I literally want to BE him. He has so much influence on my life.

2. Favourite song from Sticky Fingers?
– This album is a beautiful album… go and get the reissue!
My favourite song is ‘Moonlight Mile’ because it’s such a beautiful gentle song. The melody is calming and it makes me reflect times that have passed I guess, and I love the lyrics! “I’m just about a moonlight mile on down the road”.

3. Favourite song from Goats Head Soup?
– Can you really not guess? STAR STAR of course!!
Cannot express how much I love this song. I love the riff and the context and yes, I shout the lyrics as loud as I possibly can! I suggest you go and google the lyrics if you don’t already know them….

4. Satanic Majesties or Bigger Bang?
– Damn, that’s difficult. Bigger Bang I think because it was released in my lifetime and it was the first Stones album I bought with my own money, by myself. Plus I can really rock them songs vocally.

5. Have you seen the Stones live?
– YES! BST-Hyde Park 13/6/2013.

6. Favourite track from Exile on Main Street?
– Ah well you see, Exile is my favourite Stones album and also favourite album of all time. So it’s a tough one to call! I shall go with ‘Rocks Off’ or ‘Rip this Joint’ because both make me dance around like crazy and they make me smile a lot.

7. Favourite Stones family?
– The Wood Family. I love Ronnie of course, and I love Jo Wood. She has to be my favourite Stones wife (even if they are now divorced). I love how cute Jesse Wood and Fearne Cotton are together, and I love Leah… she was such a rock ‘n’ roll child. The whole family just has a real connection and love life.

8. Favourite Stones child?
– Georgia May Jagger. DUH!
I’ve loved her for years. I just think she is so stunningly beautiful and yeah, I buy all her Rimmel London make up. She looks just like her father.

9. Favourite piece of Stones Merch you own?
– I think it’s called “The Rolling Stones: Unseen Archives” and has something to do with the Daily Mail. It’s by Susan Hill… and I used to take it everywhere with me. Fold pages over, draw on it, highlight bits I wanted to remember or learn. Stuck stickers in it. Even threw it at people a few times. It’s still intact, if not worse for wear, but my Dad bought it for me when I was 6 years old. I also love my tattoo of course.

10. Favourite Rolling Stones song?
– Tumbling Dice. It just gets me every time. That intro, aah man… my heart melts. Makes my smile shine brighter than the sun.

11. A Stones song that means a lot to you?
– ‘Sway’ at the moment, because it just describes me and my life at the moment. “It’s just that demon life has got me in it’s sway”.
Also ‘Love in Vain’ is quite special because it makes me think of Brian.

12. I Can Feel The Fire or It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll?
– I think only hardcore Stones fans will understand the context behind this question. I Can Feel The Fire definitely! I bloody love it, and Ronnie sings so beautifully on it.

13. Favourite lyric from any Stones song?
– “Send me dead flowers to my wedding, and I wont forget to put roses on your grave”. I don’t know why, but I just really really like that lyric.

14. Ronnie Wood, Mick Taylor or Brian Jones?
– Brian all the way. No Brian No Stones. Being the founder member of the band how can you not pick Brian. Plus his musical talents really were extraordinary. He defined the band in the early years.

15. How did you get into The Rolling Stones?
– I was 6, and there was a documentary on the TV about the 60’s or something and my Dad was watching it upstairs and I went to see where he was, and this funny group of lads in black and white were performing ‘Satisfaction’ and I said “look Dad, they’re copying your song” (because my Dad was in a band that played covers) and he replied “no they wrote it…”. Very confusing concept for a 6 year old, why was my Dad playing a song that some 18 year old guys wrote? (no concept of time or age you see). Next day Dad bought me the Bridges to Babylon St.Louis concert on DVD. I watched it… and Keith comes walking out looking like rock god, and then Mick starts with his, Mickness… I was hooked! Never looked back since. Mick is literally my everything, I want to be him.

++ YES, I will be a Stones fan forever and ever and my children and grandchildren will definitely be told stories of my favourite band. I think I may have to marry another fan though!
