Agggghhhhhh, I just didn’t have the time to post July’s Top 5!! Nozfest came around so damn quick!! NOZFEST HAPPENED, IT WAS A THING!!! Right, here is a blog with my Top 5 Songs of July AND August for you all! 😉 ❤
Remember there is a YouTube playlist which includes all these wonderful songs from each month, and also a Spotify playlist which you can find via searching for ‘jodieharris15‘.
MY KIND OF LOVER – BILLY SQUIER
“I can’t do without you for too long you’re my situation…”
I loveeee this tune! I mean yes, I discovered through watching ‘The Dirt’, but this is such a sweet summery song, I’m really digging it. I sang it at my rats the other day, and I proper had their attention! This was such an awesome tune to jam out to when the weather was luxuriously hot. Cocktail in hand, bikini on… positivity floating through the air… aaahh yes. It is that kind of tune!
NEW SHOES – PAOLO NUTINI
“I said, hey I put some new shoes on and everybody’s smiling…”
This song was at the start of a movie that was on the TV one weekend, and I just thought it was super catchy and cute. I did some Googling, and found it was this awesome little jam! Isn’t this just the most luscious pick me up?! I literally just want to put on a pretty summer dress, some heels and just dance around my garden and flip my hair around and being a happy little human being! This song sums up the happiness I feel when I think about my festival ❤ So much brightness and smiles!
THE RENAISSANCE MEN – WILDHEARTS
“You can’t keep a good band down….like cheap Tequila…”
I’m not sure how this song made it onto a Nozfest playlist on Spotify, but I’m so glad it did! It’s such an awesome tune – absolutely perfect for summer!
Makes me want to wear clothes that are far too small, and are bright neon colours and drink a mixture of cocktails I really don’t like, but look awesome with paper umbrellas in them. Yes, a song can make me feel all of that. Like a tune that makes you wanna relocate to Los Angeles and NEVER come back 😉 I just hope the weather is as epic as this song for Nozfest – gotta love the sunshine, even if it gave me really bad heat stroke this month.
LUCK OF THE DRAW – THE TREATMENT
“So grow yourself some balls, and you can call me….”
I actually really like this track! Something a little different from The Treatment in my opinion, but I really like it. Quite bluesy, but still riffy like traditional Treatment. Then I am bias cos I am super happy that Tom is the frontman. I do love this song, this has got me through many busy days at work,
ODE TO JOHANNA – BLACK TREE VULTURES
“Have you seen her walk, have you seen my baby talk…”
The Vultures are another band that have taken their time to grow on me… but they are bloody awesome! At the risk of sounding like I have favourites (cos I do… sorry folks), these guys are one of my fave bands to work with, just because they are awesome lads. However, their music is also fantastic, and it isn’t my usual go to if I’m honest but like I said they are growing on me. A lot of people who are newbies of seeing the band live have also been super impressed, so they are clearly doing something very right. I guess they are almost like a heavier Stone Broken, which you can’t really go wrong with.
AUGUST!!!
HOT CHERIE – HARDLINE
“Isn’t my love strong enough, I’m ready to rock you long and rough…”
This is another tune I discovered whilst at work one weekend. I’m actually really loving Hardline at the moment, such an awesome band, some classic bangers from there dudes! It is just such a classic rock song – one that is totally perfect to sit back and listen to whilst on train journey’s, or whilst working hard at your day job, and even having a bit of a piss up. Got to admit, I wish I was this “Hot Cherie” bird, she seems to be having a great time….
WHY DON’T YOU STAY – GLENN HUGHES
“Cause I get a little worried darling, cause you gotta keep on the right track…”
This is an absolutely beautiful song ❤ It feels so emotional, and thought through
LET ME YET – SAM MILLAR
“I guess the memories will never leave my head…”
Want my honest opinion? When I first heard this song, I said “no, I don’t like. No. No.”, but at the same time the tune is pretty catchy and it got stuck in my head immediately. I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and give it another listen, and I friggin’ love this tune now. I think I’m gonna have to get my hands on a copy of ‘Holy Sass’. If you keep up to date with my blogs, you should know that Sam is indeed one of my favourite guitarists, so it is pretty cool that he has his own solo album out, especially as Bigfoot are coming to an end. This song is seriously catchy, modern and so totally different from Bigfoot, but it’s a song I can totally see getting played on the radio and perhaps tickling the mainstream generations fancies.
GO FUCK YOURSELF – ROXANNE
“Standing like a renegade, up against the barricades…”
This is such a hard hitting punchy song, and was one I needed to discover this month. I can remember listening to it, and then the punch line kicked in and I was like “F*CK YEAH!“. This is a song that is very much about authorities and people trying to put you down or back in your place… but having the guts to stand up for yourself and think “no, not gonna listen to you, I’m gonna do me!“, and that is what I needed to hear this month.
I needed a song that I could let some frustration out to, especially after all the stuff that’s been going on with friendships, I’m a lonely little bean at the moment but a tune like this sort of makes you realise that it is probably for the best. I’m not making a dig at anyone, it’s just how this song makes me feel… take a second to listen to the lyrics.
SHE’S GONE TO THE DOGS – THE WICKED JACKALS
“I’ll scare you to death with what you create…”
ABOUT TIME!! I shall totally be getting my hands on a copy of their new E.P asap! I might be completely bias because I absolutely love the Jackals, musically, as a band to work with and as people… however, this is a tune that made my ears prick up.
These guys played an absolutely blistering set at Nozfest, I only wish that I booked them in for 2 sets…. 45 mins was just not long enough! In fact, one of my best friends who came along to Nozfest said that The Wicked Jackals were actually a fave of hers (and this song in particular was one she really enjoyed) and she isn’t into Rock music… I thought these guys would be far from her kettle of fish, but she really enjoyed them, and that really warmed my heart ❤
I hope you have discovered some awesome new tunes!! I love it when you guys tell me you have discovered a new band thanks to my ickle blog! 😀 Check out some new music – it wont bite…………. well not always 😉
